In one of evenings 1790 the professor of medicine of Bodensky
university Galvani studied nervous system of frogs in laboratory. One
of assistants has casually touched a nerve of a frog a scalpel and has
seen, how pads of the dead frog lying on some, distance from the
electric car have shuddered. Other assistant has noticed that this
phenomenon occurred only at the moment of occurrence of a spark from
the electric car.
Amazed with the new phenomenon, I have immediately paid to it the
attention though planned during this moment absolutely other and have
been entirely absorbed by the thoughts, - wrote subsequently Galvani -
I was captured by extreme thirst and eagerness to investigate it and to
throw light that under it has been hidden.
The experiences of Galvani has described in 1791 in the well-known
Treatise about forces of an electricity at muscular movement. The
observant experimenter has not escaped that movements of a pad of a
frog are caused by occurrence in its nervously-muscular fabric of
short-term electric currents. At first Galvani has assumed that
occurrence of this current is caused by an atmospheric electricity. The
further experiences have convinced the scientist that the electricity
is in an animal. So in the physicist there was a doctrine about an
animal electricity.
