Kos can be accessed by air directly from several major European airports,
as well as from Athens (flight time from Athens is approximately 60
minutes) or by ferryboat (from the port of Piraeus, close to Athens, in
approximately 10 hours). Kos is also close to Rhodes (approximately 2hours
by Ferry Boat) and about 40 minutes from the Turkish coast. Following you

ACCESS TO KOS ISLAND

General Information
There are scheduled flights to Kos from Athens and other Greek airports,
as well as charters from major European cities. There are 5 to 7 daily
flights to Kos from Athens. Flight time from Athens is approximately 60
minutes. Flights leave from Athens International Airport “Eleftherios
Venizelos”.
If you land on Thessaloniki International Airport “Macedonia”, you can fly
to Athens and then take a flight to Kos. There are also, 3 weekly flights
from Heraklion (Crete) to Kos.

General Information
Boats (including car ferries) leave from:
Piraeus port (major port located in Athens area)
There are 7 weekly scheduled departures from Piraeus to Kos. Two boat
companies are operating itineraries leaving Piraeus at noon or night and
arriving after approximately 10 hours or after approximately 15 hours
(depending on the company you choose) early in the morning at the island.
You may book your ticket to include a cabin making the trip a relaxed
journey.
Rhodes port (Rhodes is the biggest of the Dodecanese islands)
There are 12 weekly scheduled departures to Kos. The journey is
approximately 2 ½ hours.

Access to Piraeus Port from “El. Venizelos”
Airport
The is located 45 kms from Piraeus Port. If you choose to take
the ferry to go to Kos, you can reach Piraeus port by these means:
Taxis can be easily found at the stations outside the airport. The
taxi queue is next to Exit 3 of the Arrivals Level. An average journey by
taxi to the Piraeus port should take approximately 60/70 minutes,
depending on the traffic and its cost should be around 40 - 45 Euros per
way.
Shuttle Bus is leaving from the Airport to Piraeus port
approximately every 25 minutes (Express line E96) and it reaches Piraeus
after 90 minutes. The bus queue is next to Exit 5 of the Arrivals Level.
Current ticket price is 2,90 Euros.
Metro (Subway system). The Metro runs every 10 minutes. You can
take the Metro, number 3 line (blue) from the airport and reach Piraeus
port in 60 minutes. Current ticket price is 6 Euros.
Note: When you arrive at the airport, you should exit main terminal
building, cross the road, take the elevator to the upper level, cross a
long corridor, and you will arrive at the metro station. Take the Metro,
number 3 line towards "Monastiraki". Using the same ticket and without
leaving the station, you can switch at Monastiraki station from the blue
to the green line, direction "Piraeus", which will take you to the Piraeus
port.

Access to Kos International Convention
Centre from Kos International Airport
Kos International Airport “Hippocrates” is located 27 km from Kos town and
30 km from KICC.
You can either choose:
Airport transfers will be offered by MeetingPlanner.gr at the cost
of € 15 per person. You may request this service via the ISCAS ’06
accommodation form, prior to your arrival. The service will run
on May 20 and on May 21 for arrivals and on May 24 and May 25 for
departures, in conjunction with each day’s scheduled flights from Athens.
For those who will be arriving via charter flights, you may arrange your
transfer with your tour operator or request it via our web site, as above.
Taxis can be easily found at the station outside the airport. An
average journey by taxi to KICC should take approximately 20-25 minutes,
and its cost should be around 20 - 25 Euros per way.
Local Bus Service is also available and takes you from the airport
to the centre of Kos town. It is not recommended to take the local bus, as
it will drop you at a central location in the city and then you will have
to take a taxi to go to your hotel.
Access to Kos International Convention Centre
from Kos Port
Kos Port is located 3 km from KICC.
The only way to get to KICC if you arrive by boat is to take a taxi. Even
though it is a rather difficult process, since after every arrival the
taxi waiting cue is always long and taxis never seem to be enough, it is the
only option you have.
Hotels shuttle service during conference
days
All hotels shown on the ISCAS ‘06 website will be serviced by a bus
shuttle service during the three conference days.
Buses will run a circular service
among the symposium hotels, every hour.
Public transportation in Kos
The conference venue and all hotels shown on the ISCAS ‘06 website are
also serviced by the local public bus transportation system. Buses from
and to Kos town and other villages of the island, run approximately every
25 min. and the bus ticket cost is 1 Euro.
Car rentals
Many major car rental companies have offices inside the airport terminal
and around Kos island. Those of you wishing to rent a car, may make arrangements upon arrival at the airport.
